GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS
Hiya Everyone
Today the countdown starts to my latest exhibition - just 3 days to go until Thursday the 5th…
Not only does the countdown start but the insecurities will also start to niggle away! Each day will come with its own bagful of worries - have I bought enough wine for the preview evening - how many people will come. But the biggy, the one that overrides all the other niggles, and by Thursday will be a huge looming angst, is what will the reaction to my new series be?
No matter how much I love my new series some of you will not share my enthusiasm. I know my art can be Marmite and that is indeed be how it should be. I don’t aim to please all the people all the time, no artist can expect to have their whole collection liked by everyone! My aim is to make good art that pleases me and those steadfast collectors who indeed share my love of my art and await eagerly for new series. Of course I do hope to attract new collectors and so I will put myself through the pain and angst once more over the course of the next few days.
I do hope that those of you who choose to come to the preview evening on Thursday will give me honest critiques. It doesn’t matter whether or not you like the pieces but that you are honest about the creditability of the work.
Each piece I am displaying is based on my Femme Facade series, which explored how women seek to change their appearance to appear more attractive, to fit in and attract others within their chosen tribe. The original Femme Facade images are changed, you could say they have had a makeover. Each new piece is original and will come with a free print of the original work.
Nerves aside, I am looking forward to the launch on Thursday and I do hope you will join me at Greenspace - No 30 Mutley Plain Plymouth. The exhibition runs for 3 days and if you can’t make it on Thursday evening I will be at Greenspace on Saturday from 11-3.
35% of the funds from sold art goes to Greenspace to support the Greenhouse Project - see the link below.
